Baptisms:
Baptisms are wonderful celebrations - the door to the Church and the other sacraments. Parents requesting Baptism for their children need to make a commitment to bring up the child in the faith of the Church. Parents/guardians are required to attend a Baptism Information Evening which is arranged with the Parish Priest. The normal place for a Baptism is your local Parish. However, if you wish to have a Baptism at Our Lady of Lourdes, permission from your local Parish Priest is required. If you would like to have your child baptised please contact the Parish office to enquire about Baptism preparation.
Who can be a godparent?
One godparent must be a Catholic who has been confirmed and has received the Eucharist, and who lives a life worthy of the role that he or she is about to undertake. It is possible to have just the one godparent. However as long as one godparent is Catholic, it is permissible for a non-Catholic Christian to act as witness to your child's Baptism. It is not possible for an unbaptized person to act as godparent or Christian witness.
Adults seeking Baptism would generally take part in the Parish RCIA program.
Sacramental Preparation:
After School Religious Education classes prepare children who do not attend a Catholic School for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. For further information, please contact the Parish Office on 9345 5541.

If you are thinking of marriage please contact the Parish office as soon as possible - we ask for eight months notice. At the initial meeting the Parish Priest will go through the marriage preparation course and you will be asked to enroll at the Catholic Marriage Education Services Course conducted by the Centre for Life, Marriage & Family.
